What is the difference between echo and C-Pal?

What reporting do C-Pal and echo provide?

Both systems provide standard reports that include date and time, average speed, and route. The control centre stores all of this data in a database, allowing TRAXmap to easily create additional custom reports for you.

service.

Who needs a TRAXmap  tracking system?

TRAXmap C-Pal and echo are useful to people who need up-to-date information about the location of people, vehicles and other mobile assets. This can vary from people who have a car and want to protect it from theft, to International haulage companies, who need real-time tracking of the location of hundreds of vehicles spread across the Continent. Many people give C-Pal tracking devices to their children so they can track their every move. Many typical examples of usage are given in the appropriate wepages on this site:

What voltage vehicles does echo work with?

echo is designed to work with all of the current and proposed vehicle voltage standards. echo will work safely in vehicles with 12, 24, 36 and even 48v DC electrical systems.

C-Pal personal tracker has its own small battery and is a totally self contained unit. It is charged off a regular charger similar to a mobile telephone charger.

Which phone networks are TRAXmap products compatible with?

echo is designed to work with all data enabled mobile phone providers. In UK and West Africa TRAXmap products have been tested with, and are fully compatible with all networks. We can recommend service providers that can act as the backbone for use of our system, and have agreements and approvals in place
with many providers for compatibility and technical reasons.

What type of communication module do C-Pal and echo use?

C-Pal and echo use a dual band GSM module (900 - 1,800MHz) in Africa and Europe.

What resolution maps does echo use?

TRAXmap provides different mapping resolutions down to 1:2000 for street level mapping. Our Street Maps are produced by us using expensive satellite digital images, and fully digitised and updated regularly by our in house mapping engineers.
We have maps for most European countries, as well as several African countries down to street level data of cities and towns in these countries. We have also plotted the spot location of most of the Cities Towns and

What type of GPS unit does echo use?

echo uses a 12 Channel GPS receiver.

What is the accuracy of the echo and C-Pal tracking unit?

The accuracy of the C-Pal and echo depends on the number of satellites that they acquires for a position fix. The minimum number of satellites for a fix is 3, the more satellites that can confirm a position the more accurate the reported position. Typically GPS accuracy will be anywhere between 5 Meters
and 1 Meter.

The C-Pal is a more accurate product and will typically be able to track the person even if they are inside a building. It is supplied with a high gain antenna and electronics ensuring that the user is tracked accurately at all times.

What happens if the TRAXmap tracking unit is unable to get a phone signal?

If the C-Pal or echo is unable to get a GSM signal to report its data it will store the data within the unit and forward it to the modem server when it gets a signal back. echo has a up to 1 years data backup capability. Alternatively the data can be downloaded remotely from our Base Station.

What optional extras are available for echo?

echo has several options available for it, these include:- Additional solenoids to control your vehicle or equipment remotely. Integral battery pack, for standalone operations, where vehicle power is
not available.
Panic button, for driver or 'lone worker' security.
Activation on central locking or vehicle immobilisation. Monitoring of doors, load temperatures and other external sensors

Can echo and C-Pal use 'Pay-as-you-Go' mobile phone accounts?

Yes, echo and C-Pal can use 'Pay-as-you-Go' accounts. You can configure TRAXmap tracking units so that our Control Centre initiates all communications. This is ideal in configurations where the unit is occasionally accessed, for example protecting 'Classic' cars in storage. This also allows you to provide complete cost control of your phone accounts, with most of the call initiation being from the Control Centre and the C-Pal or echo unit only needs to initiate a call when a boundary condition is created, e.g. the vehicle crosses a geo-fence
or exceeds a predetermined speed.

Do C-Pal and echo use SMS to pass data to and from the Vehicle Unit?

Yes and No.
They send and receive messages by SMS as well as voice messages ensuring that there is a backup should capacity on one network be exceeded. In exceptional circumstances where capacity is exceeded on both SMS and voice calls, the units are traceable by other means. We do not give out details of our
alternative third tracking method.

Can I use echo in a hidden or covert manner?

Yes, the echo unit is small and easily hidden. It can be used in both covert and overt operations. Meaning that a unit could be placed in a vehicle without the driver knowing that he was being monitored. However the more usual work practice is to use echo with the full knowledge of the staff, to help to improve overall business efficiency, with route optimisation, improved driver and load security, scheduling vehicle maintenance and customer notification of delivery times being the typical objectives.

Do I have to install echo in a vehicle to use it, or can I track anything?

echo does not need to be installed in a vehicle in order to operate. The echo unit is self contained and can be supplied with an optional battery pack, enabling you to simply place it in package and track wherever the package goes. The size and weight of the echo unit mean that this can be anything
from a cash bag, through to a large container. This means that you can use echo to track things as diverse as: Generators Trailors Property in Transit

What will it cost me to use echo?

Depending in the number of vehicles and the mileage they do you could actually save money by using echo!! For example, a transport company using echo found that their productivity increased by 40% and mileage dropped by 26% due to increased driver productivity and decreased driver unauthorised use of vehicles.

Contact us NOW on Office@TRAXmap.com for further detailed advice.

This more than paid for the monthly subscription and costs of the echo units they had purchased. It was also found that the clients preferred their goods to be tracked and so business increased when clients knew their goods were being tracked, and the client insurance was reduced by 25% as a result.

Are C-Pal and echo easy to install and use?

Yes, the echo vehicle unit is a small, robust and extremely reliable unit. echo can be run from a 'cigarette lighter' power source for temporary installations, professionally installed or run from an optional battery pack. These choices give you the flexibility to quickly and effectively deploy echo.

The C-Pal is just carried around with the person being tracked in a pocket or bag. It is charged just like a mobile telephone from a mains charger and a full charge lasts around 48 hours.

In areas where there is no electricity a solar charger can be provided to keep the C-Pal battery fully charged at all times.
